Stay on Target-----

Hey Guys!

After a long couple weeks at the office I kept the seconds rolling in by doing lots of After effects work for the film....I did get in the garage during the weeks too but it wasn't always easy.....here is a recent shot from the last chapter in the film-its got the long pause in the middle because its cut into 2 shots in the story-
and here is an element animation for the fight scene.
I did manage to do most of the computer console work for the film which adds up to alot of footage......
....... progress was made even though it didn't always feel like it.

So..... now that me and shel finished the line layout and Dober choreography

-we have to get in there and carve all the lines in the clay which actually takes some time.......and then set up the camera for our big reveal.

This shot will be a camera move so I will have to crank a little bit on the manfrotto to get it moving.

I am not feeling real confident on the camera move at the moment but I am gona do my best.

I also wanted to post about my excitement about this years lineup of stopmotion films. For the first time EVER- 3 Feature Stopmotion films are coming out all in the same year. WOW!!

{Pirates}-This looks like classic Aardman fun- Lots of silly -clever humor that I'm sure I will enjoy tremendously. I really hope it finds an audience here in the U.S.....WoooHoo!!! I would be very proud to have worked on stop mo film this FUN!!

{Frankenweenie}- Now I thought the trailer hit you right away with a concept most kids with pets can identify with- Losing your pet - I had dogs all growing up -and I am a tim burton fan so I have High hopes for this one. I am a bit afraid the black and white is going to limit the success of the film t.....but ........again Fantastic work by all the folks involved!! and I cant wait to watch it.

and PARANORMAN-
WOO HOO!!!! I am sooooo pumped guys- they released the second Trailer and I have a BUNCH of shots in this one- little pieces from a few of my sequences-sprinkled all throughout.
Its so crazy that I have had so many in the trailers so far.

..........I also still feel very confident that Paranorman is gona be the NEW Standard for stopmotion film making.....and belive it also has a HUGE chance to be the Breakout FINANCIAL HIT of the bunch. I cant wait!!

Layin Down the LINE-----

Hey Guys!

been getting a bunch done....

3 more weeks of meeting and exceeding my weekly quota..........
I have pulled in close to 25 seconds of footage in the last 3 weeks...woo hoo!!

here is a shot from the Montage sequence....
A big milestone for us is laying down the final lines which will remain for the rest of the film and define the brain shaped puzzlenasium of personal territories that the characters need to respect as they recover their ship parts.......

We have both been waiting for this moment for a LONG time......we started laying it out today.
I drew out a bunch of line for the early story boards
but now was the time to get real and have them make sence and create interesting problems for them as the Traverse the field.

Puzzles are one of shel's many talents....so she lead the way here.....
.....we broke out some yarn and started going to town.........working out everything in non permanent easily adjustable ways.
this is exciting and going to require some set up for the following week......

Filling in clay cracks....

...Preparing the characters and camera choreography...

Laying down the clay lines- actually carving them into the clay....

...I am also going into a super crunch week at work.....which is gona directly kill my output this coming week....sukkks

In preparation for the slow progress I plan on doing some Post production - computer monitor shots which is more easily picked up and put down as I need to catch some zzz's...from the LONG work days.....while still getting some seconds on the boards..
otherwise.....chug chug chug....we keep moving forward.....

cant wait to animate Dobers Ninjafied moves through the crazy field....

Tricks of the week...
